US to spend $10 million to curb bird flu among farm workers, including vaccination drive
(Reuters) – The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said on Tuesday it plans to spend $10 million to curb avian flu infections among farmworkers, including $5 million for seasonal flu vaccines, as part of efforts to prevent the virus from spreading further and mutating.The ongoing avian flu outbreak has infected poultry flocks in nearly every U.S. state since 2022 and more than 170 dairy flocks in 13 states since March, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.Thirteen poultry and dairy workers in Colorado, Michigan and Texas have been infected with the virus, the CDC said.
