Do you get tattoos at festivals?Aftercare tips
Whether you’re a first-time tattoo collector or a seasoned tattoo collector, be sure to keep a few aftercare tips in mind before heading out to a tattoo festival.
Tattoos typically heal completely in two and a half weeks, depending on size and location, says tattoo artist Emilio Alonso of Fun City Tattoo in New York City.

How you care for your tattoo will affect how long it takes to heal. According to Dr. Bruce Katz, a board-certified dermatologist and director of JUVA Skin & Laser Center, keeping your tattooed skin moisturized can speed up the healing process.
“People think that if you let it air, don’t put ointment on it, let it dry, it’ll heal faster, but that’s a myth,” Katz says. “If you keep the area moist so that the scab doesn’t harden, as the skin heals it will move under the moist scab because there’s nothing to block it, so it will heal much faster. .”
After getting your new ink, leave on the bandage your tattoo artist gave you. For traditional wraps, he recommends leaving the wrap on for at least 3 hours.
If you don’t wash or apply lotion to your tattoo, you may be at risk of infection. Spending too much time in the sun, swimming, or doing strenuous exercise right after getting a tattoo can lead to infection. If you notice redness, pain, or tenderness around the area, or if you have a fever, you should see a doctor.
